Privacy Policy

Last updated October 25, 2026

This policy explains what the Jill team ("Jill", "we") collects when you use the Jill app and jillapplies.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect only what applying for jobs needs, and we don't sell your personal information.

What we collect

  • Account: the name and email Apple shares when you sign in with Apple (which may be a private relay address).
  • Profile and résumé: what you upload or type, such as your work history, education, skills, links, phone number and location, and the job titles, places, pay and work styles you're looking for.
  • Your answers: answers you give to application questions and choose to save, such as work authorization, sponsorship, salary expectations and availability. If you choose to, your answers to voluntary equal-opportunity questions (such as gender, race, veteran or disability status).
  • Applications: the jobs you swipe on and apply to, the answers sent, each application's status, and screenshots of the filled form taken as proof before and after it's sent.
  • Employer emails: messages employers send to your Jill email address, including their text and any security codes.
  • Purchases: your subscription's status and renewal dates from Apple, through RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
  • Device and usage: basic information needed to run the app, such as your time zone and, if you allow them, notification tokens.

Jill never asks for or stores your Social Security number, date of birth, government ID or bank details. When an application asks for those, it's handed back to you.

How we use it

  • to match you with jobs and explain why they fit;
  • to prepare and send the applications you choose, and to show you their progress;
  • to sort employers' replies to your Jill address and link them to your applications;
  • to run your subscription and free daily allowance;
  • to keep the Service working, secure and free of abuse, and to help you when you contact us.

Your equal-opportunity answers are used only to answer those voluntary questions with the choice you saved, and are never sent to an AI model.

AI processing

Jill uses AI models to read your résumé, match questions to your saved answers, write answers to open questions from your profile, check those answers for anything your profile doesn't support, and sort employer emails. We use Anthropic's Claude models through Anthropic's commercial API, under terms that don't allow Anthropic to train its models on that data. We use Voyage AI to turn your profile and job descriptions into numbers used for matching.

Who we share it with

  • Employers you apply to, through their hiring systems (such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee and BambooHR): the information and answers in that application.
  • Service providers that run Jill for us: Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in), Fly.io (the server that fills in applications), Cloudflare (our website and the email routing for Jill addresses), Anthropic and Voyage AI (AI processing, above), and RevenueCat and Apple (subscriptions). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
  • If Jill is sold or merged, with the new owner, who must honor this policy.

We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and Jill has no ads.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while you have an account. Proof screenshots and the original copies of employer emails are deleted after 90 days. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, résumés, answers, applications, emails and files within 30 days; records we must keep for legal or tax reasons, and anonymous cost records, are kept as long as required. Your Jill email address is never given to anyone else.

Your choices and rights

You can see and edit your profile and saved answers in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data by emailing hello@jillapplies.com; we'll answer within 30 days and may need to confirm it's you. Depending on where you live (for example California and other US states, Canada, the United Kingdom or Australia), you may have further rights, such as to know what we hold and how it's used, to limit use of sensitive information, or to complain to your privacy regulator. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Files are kept in private storage and shown through links that expire within minutes. Access by our team is limited, and every admin action is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Where your data is kept

Jill stores and processes data in the United States. If you use Jill from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Children

Jill isn't for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Employers

We keep public job postings and basic company details (name, website, logo) to show jobs. Employers who'd rather not receive applications sent with Jill can opt out here.

Changes

We'll post changes to this policy here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
